European Electrical Design Lead Engineer – Position Overview
The European Electrical Design Lead Engineer will work with our European Engineering and Maintenance teams located in UK and mainland Europe. Frequent travel will be an integral part of the role (UK, EU and global).
Primary responsibilities include electrical design, establishing and managing the electrical integrity program and supporting multiple sites on electrical fault remediation and systems commissioning.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for the following key activities across the European grid: -
Design
- Produce comprehensive design packages for ECI projects with a basis towards Electrical, including.
- Earthing and Lightning Protection designs,
- Fault Studies & Protection Co-ordination,
- Design of systems, control circuits & relay control panels,
- Cable Schedules, BOMs, GAs, Wiring Arrangements, Instrument Loop Diagrams, Block Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams.
- Conduct calculations and simulations to ensure that designs meet the intended application. (Fault Studies, Protection Studies, Cable Calcs (inc. IS cable calcs)
- Collaborate with site engineers and stakeholders to ensure that designs meet project requirements.
- Utilising the Aveva Design suite of software, support concept, FEED, execution, and commissioning phases of projects.
Maintain
- Support and maintain the upkeep of Process Safety Information (as-building and updating documents using Aveva design packages)
- Maintain existing processes and procedures to ensure sites are in compliance and update procedures based on changes to regulations
- Working with the SAP Maintenance SME provide guidance on period maintenance requirements and scope of maintenance plans for ECI related equipment.
Improve
- Develop & manage an electrical integrity program across European sites to evaluate existing Electrical installations as necessary, including:
- Establish a program across the European sites
- Develop a system ensure reliability and safety are maintained for electrical installations
- Maintain the program, reporting KPIs to stakeholders at period intervals.
Education and Skill Requirements
Degree qualified in electrical engineering or other relevant qualifications and industrial experience.
- Extensive experience working on LV & HV systems
- Experience in set-up, development, and operation of Aveva.
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work within a matrixed organisation and remotely with site teams.
- Additional language skills beneficial but not essential
Practical knowledge of:
- IEC 50522 Earthing of power installations
- IEC 62305 Lightning Protection
- IEC 60909 Short Circuit Currents
- IEC 60364 / BS7671
- IEC 60947 LV Switchgear and Control gear
- EN 17007 - Maintenance process and associated indicators
