CACI’s Retail Finance Benchmarking Group maintains a number of member-subscribed, data pooling services for a large proportion of the UK’s banks, building societies and fintech retail finance providers. Each member provides data on a regular, periodic basis. CACI processes and aggregates this data and publishes the output for each member to a secure portal, comprising a series of views of the member’s performance, and of a pooled, anonymised rest of market.

The services enable members to:

  • Form an objective view of their performance
  • Take more informed decisions around product, channel, acquisition, and retention
  • Ascertain market reactions to those decisions
  • Identify shifts in market sentiment

Here are some of the specific challenges we help our clients solve:

  • Which demographic groups have the greatest change in behaviour for my products?
  • How has my market share changed over the last 12 months, and how does that differ between types of products, or region?
  • Where are there opportunities for our business to launch new products?
  • How many of my customers are due to mature in the next 12 months and how does that compare with our competitors?
  • How has a recent market event impacted the market for our products?

How does our market share vary in places where we have a branch, and why?

What you’ll be doing:

Reporting to the Data Processing Manager, the database analyst will be responsible for reviewing, managing, and publishing our weekly and monthly data cycles. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the collection and processing of our client’s data files in a timely manner.
  • Regularly verifying the quality of our client’s data to ensure accuracy. This requires highlighting irregularities, analysing trends, and seeking context behind interesting data observations.
  • Interrogating and supporting both our terabyte-scale SQL (T-SQL) server back-end and our Tableau/Liferay front-end.
  • Guaranteeing client confidentiality is always protected.
  • Ensuring the wider team has visibility during the collection, processing, and publication stages of a data cycle. This involves updating our processing logs, and effectively communicating cycle affairs via Microsoft Teams.
  • Working closely with our clients to resolve outstanding data issues, escalate service publication delays, and improve standards of data delivery over the long term.
  • Collaborating with senior stakeholders on projects to enhance the quality of our data checking processes with the aim of improving accuracy.

Due to the sensitivity of the client data, the candidate will be expected to have a keen eye for detail and follow our checking procedures to ensure the accuracy of the services we deliver to our clients.

The role is a critical part of the overall objective of the team, to ensure that UK retail finance providers can take informed decisions based on prompt, consistent, and accurate data.
