We are the leading provider of insight and analysis for the primary capital markets community.

For over 35 years, we have been helping investment banks, issuers, investors, law firms, rating agencies, tech platforms, and regulators keep pace with the most important trends, challenges, and opportunities in the industry.

As a trusted and reputable voice for capital markets participants, we work together to deliver independent news and data products that provide transparency into primary DCM activity, all guided by our core values.

European ABS Reporter

GlobalCapital reporters produce a broad range of editorial content, mostly written, on their specialist sector of the capital markets, where they are also an ambassador for the organisation. This reporter will be part of the Securitization Section, reporting specifically on the European ABS (asset-backed securities) market.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for a journalist to write original copy and break news, to develop a deep understanding of a complex, nuanced and hugely important financial market, and to build relationships with senior and influential people.

Responsibilities

  1. Alongside the Senior Securitization Reporter, write GlobalCapital’s coverage of European ABS, identifying the most important deals, themes, people moves and other industry news and providing the most engaging and accurate analysis possible to provide readers with a unique take on the markets.
  2. Support the Securitization Team in contributing to the full range of the newspaper’s coverage — from hard news, to analysis, to opinion, to features — in house style and to tight deadlines, to maintain GlobalCapital’s distinctive editorial voice and its reputation as a reliable and indispensable tool of working in capital markets.
  3. Build a broad number of deep relationships with key people in the European ABS market and become part of the daily fabric of that market, ensuring the newspaper understands its subject and its readers better than any of its rivals and has as many sources for stories as possible.
  4. Be the voice of their particular market sector within GlobalCapital, pitching story ideas, championing special report ideas, providing insight and collaborating with the rest of the editorial team where appropriate.
  5. Provide cover for other reporters, where appropriate, particularly in the Securitization Team. This enables us to provide consistent coverage and helps to broaden the journalist’s skill set.
  6. Represent the newspaper at industry events to provide coverage, build contacts and to become a recognised face in the ABS market.
  7. Contribute to the Securitization Podcast, Another Fine Mezz.

Reporting Lines

The reporter will report to the Securitization Editor and US Bureau Chief, who is responsible for securitization coverage.

Key Relationships

Works with senior journalists, such as section editors, and/or the editor and manging editor to produce market coverage. Although senior editorial colleagues guide the overall direction of coverage and have final say over what is covered, the reporter is expected to have their own ideas and, indeed, manage their own workload. A section editor, or senior reporter, and a reporter will often cover the same market in tandem.

Has strong relationships with key people in and around their market to provide the sharpest and most insightful coverage. That means having the ability to call people in the market directly rather than having to rely upon press teams and other such gatekeepers.

Works with their section editor, the editor, and the marketing and production teams to make sure their coverage reaches the biggest possible audience and is presented in the best possible way.
