THE ROLE:  

Join us as our Site Shunter within our Transport Teamsupport a Major customer. 

   

THE SALARY:  

£33,914 p.a(4on / 4off) 

   

WHERE YOU WILL BE BASED:  

Magor Brewery, NP26 3WN  

   

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?  

   

To provide site shunting activities across the Magor Brewery Site in a safe and efficient manner. Communicate effectively with the site Management Team to ensure trailers are moving to and from the correct location in a timely manner.  

   

Ensure all site Health & Safety rules are adhered to and support the Yard Marshalls in policing visiting drivers.  

   

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITES:  

   

  • The movement of trailers to-and-from as requested  

  • Carry out visual checks to ensure trailers are roadworthy  

  • Place trailers in to the designated-onsite areas (loaded & empty trailers)  

  • Looking after the shunt vehicle including daily checks  

  • Ensure visiting drivers (EVC & other hauliers) drop trailer in the designated areas  

  • Ensure empty trailers have curtains pulled and secured  

  • VOR any non-roadworthy trailer and report to the appropriate department 

  • Follow the VOR procedure  

  • Ensure a VOR plate is attached  

  • Ensure the trailer cannot go on the road  

  • Ensure daily vehicle check are carried out on Tugs and any other mechanical equipment  

  • Complete Pre-check equipment documents  

  • Monitor the diesel and Ad-Blue level in the on-site tank, report on low levels to the appropriate department 

  • Monitor visiting drivers to ensure all site rules are being adhered to  

   

This list is not exhaustive and you may be required to undertake any other duties deemed appropriate by your manager to facilitate the smooth running that is reasonable of the remit of the role.  

   

   

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:  

   

Shunting/C+E experience desirable but training can be given to the right candidate.  

Vehicle / Trailer checking, including VOR procedures  

Self-motivated with a positive attitude and reliable  

You will have excellent communication skills, spoken and written  

Build good working relationships with work colleagues and our customers  

Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team  

Excellent attention to detail, friendly and helpful nature 

Proven ability to prioritise work loads and meet tight deadlines.  

Highly organised and able to handle difficult situations.  

Proven ability to work on own initiative.
