Senior Payroll Administrator
Fixed Term Contract, Maternity Cover – 14months
Hybrid – London, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham
Salary – up to £37,000 (depending on experience and suitability)
Summary
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist who will be responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with extensive knowledge of UK payroll legislation and experience in administering complex payroll operations.
We are open on location however some travel to the Leeds office on monthly basis may be required.
Some of the key deliverables in this role will be:
- Operate and execute end-to-end payroll processes for the organisation, including UK monthly, weekly, and Cyprus runs
- Ensure compliance with all relevant UK payroll legislation, including tax codes, National Insurance, pensions, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)
- Perform regular payroll reconciliations, audits, and reports to ensure accuracy and integrity of payroll data
- Maintain and update payroll systems and software, ensuring data integrity and security
- Handle and resolve complex payroll-related inquiries from employees in a timely and professional manner
- Generate and analyse payroll reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior payroll staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment
- Work closely with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes with other business operations
What we’re looking for:
- Solid experience in payroll administration, ideally been in a senior role
- Proficiency in cloud-based payroll software (Dayforce, SAP, WorkDay, Oracle, PeopleSoft.) and advanced MS Excel skills
- Comprehensive understanding of UK payroll legislation and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts clearly and concisely
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity
Additional requirements
- CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) certification or equivalent is highly desirable
- Proficiency in payroll user acceptance testing and expertise in identifying documenting and tracking defects
