Summary

Freedom have a vacancy for a Commercial Manager.  Duties will be to form and manage the local commercial team and practices, advising senior management on the commercial risks and opportunities on Contracts from tender to completion. Being responsible for the Commercial performance of several frameworks. Providing commercial support and advice to Work Winning and other functions as required. Support the Commercial Director in preparing the regional management accounts and contributing to Contract Reviews.

 

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Comply with the company’s Health and Safety standards ensuring that the safety first and foremost message is visible and alive throughout all activities relating to the activities they complete.
  • Provide leadership for the commercial team; in line with company standards and values, working to maximise the potential of both the teams and the individuals within them.
  • Monitor and manage the commercial performance of the projects and the project commercial staff and ensure they successfully achieve company, division, team and individual objectives.
  • Manage costs within the BU and ensure they are fair and equitable.
  • Manage all contracts and ensure the appropriate commercial rigour in line with Group operating standards are applied.
  • Complete business reports as detailed by the MD OD & AD.
  • Ensure all contracts, up and down supply chain, are in place and appropriate for the business.
  • Commercial Contract evaluation for bids. To include legal review of all T&C's, risk portfolio and mitigation strategy. Ensure all rates are built up from 1st principles and Market tested.
  • Provide Cash Flow Forecasts including Monthly Forecasting, in line with the Business Tempo.
  • Value Completed works.
  • Identify & notification of Compensation Events
  • CVR creation, review & adjustment monthly in line with Business Tempo.
  • Establishment and chair of monthly project reviews
  • Measurement of works on site.
  • Attend Client progress meetings and prepare necessary commercial paperwork for OD.
  • Follow procedures for Client Work Approval
  • Post Audit of works commercially.
  • Manage Application, Invoicing and Debts. Attend all cash calls with details on nonpayment’s/approvals.
  • Management of Commercial team
  • Strong knowledge of the business unit's financial targets and forecasting with an understanding of how each element of the forecast is structured, and a focus on working with the Operations team to ensure that this is met every month.

What we’re looking for:

  • Significant Experience of responsibility for the commercial performance of projects
  • Experience with Civil Engineering and Construction projects
  • Experience of successfully managing a team.
  • Experience of managing volume based projects
  • Relevant BSC / degree / equivalent
  • English & Maths GCSE / equivalent
