Summary

 

Freedom Civil Design is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex engineering projects that support the UK's Net Zero targets, covering the full energy system—from generation and transmission to distribution and storage.

 

In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams (technical design, construction, quality, sales) and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality structural engineering solutions. Site visits, client meetings, and occasional travel will be required.

 

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Structural Engineering Design – Carry out calculations, drawings, and technical reports for a range of structures, including steel, masonry, and reinforced concrete.
  • Technical Assessments – Conduct site surveys, structural assessments, and research new engineering techniques.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration – Work closely with clients and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Technical Support – Provide engineering solutions for site-based challenges via the TQ/RFI process.
  • Mentorship & Development – Support and guide junior engineers, contributing to their professional growth.
  • Compliance & Safety – Ensure all work meets Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards.
  • Industry Best Practices – Stay up-to-date with evolving industry regulations and technical advancements. 

 

What we’re looking for:

If you are a motivated Structural Engineer with experience in designing and delivering complex projects, we want to hear from you! The ideal candidate should have:

  • Experience designing masonry buildings, steel structures, and drainage systems.
  • Client-facing experience, with strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meeting quality and deadline expectations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), PDF editors, and relevant specialist software.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and specialist engineering software.
  • Experience with BIM/CAD management and maintaining data integrity and version control.
  • Understanding of risk management and buildability principles.
  • Experience with DNO and Transmission projects (authorisations preferred or working towards them).
  • A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and working towards Chartered status (CEng) with IStructE or ICE.
  • A full UK driving licence.
