Apprentice Planner
Are you looking to kick start your career as a Planner in the construction industry?

We have exciting opportunities for enthusiastic people to join our Engineering Division working on Strategic Projects. You will be based at Sellafield, a large multi-function nuclear site that processes and stores nuclear waste and is involved in nuclear decommissioning, where you will learn from the industry’s best, working primarily on regulated projects.
As part of your training and development you may also be given the opportunity to gain experience on everything from office; hospitals to universities; manufacturing facilities and the rail network. No two projects are ever the same and this is an industry that continually adapts and embraces new technologies.
As an NG Bailey apprentice you will:
- Train at one of the top performing colleges or training providers in the country.
- Learn about our award-winning approach to working safely.
- Work both in an office and on site.
- Gain experience on some of the most fascinating and prominent construction sites in the country
- Be prepared for early starts and travel away from home when necessary.
- Develop great working relationships with some of the industry’s most talented people.
- Have a strong support network giving you the chance to build your confidence and use your initiative.
You will learn to:
- Assist the designers, engineers, and commercial teams in the development of detailed project programme and controls.
- Produce project performance reports measuring progress against project targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Identify potential project delays and techniques to mitigate, report and manage.
- Identify risks within contracts and possible solutions.
- Collect and manage resource and progress data in specialist planning and project management software to produce resource forecasts and cost plans.
- Gain an understanding of core financial management such as cash flow and budgeting.
- Monitor subcontractors and suppliers to ensure they have met our requirements before releasing payment.
- Assist the commercial team with administration tasks including, variations, project reporting and contract notifications etc.
- Provide forecasts and reports to NG Bailey colleagues.

You will attend college in Barnsley on block release to complete the Level 3 Project Controls Technician apprenticeship. In addition, you will regularly attend in house training and development as part of the programme.
To apply you need:
5 GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade C/4 or above in English Language, Maths, Science, plus 2 other subjects at grade C/4 or above.
