JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title:     Anatomic Pathologist       

Reports to:         Lead Anatomic Pathologist

Department:          Pathology

Main purpose of the role

The Anatomic Pathologist is responsible for interpretation and reporting of results from veterinary samples processed at our laboratories in the UK. To provide expert veterinary anatomic pathology services to our clients on histology and cytology samples.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Core role accountabilities:Describe the principal tasks and responsibilities

  1. Review of samples, to produce interpretive reports for submitting veterinary practices.
  2. Evaluate histology and cytology samples to produce descriptive and interpretive reports for submitting veterinary practices
  3. Fulfil statutory RCVS requirements regarding to maintenance of professional competency – including CPD, current advances and industry concepts
  4. Participate in team activity /meetings / events
  5. Working with the marketing team to help produce communications across all different types of marketing platforms. This will include helping to develop and present CPD material, production of marketing literature and supporting the company’s social media strategy to drive growth and brand awareness
  6. To attend congresses for CPD and to help in the promotion of the business. We are constantly looking for new opportunities and attendance at congresses allows us to identify potential new areas of interest to the business as well as ensuring identifying areas our competitors are focusing on
  7. Work with submitting practice team to ensure suitability of samples and diagnostic tests requested
  8. Work alongside the technical staff in the laboratory to provide support and guidance for diagnostic tests. We operate a continual improvement strategy to ensure that existing and new tests meet client requirements and professional standards.
  9. Work alongside the wider business by providing veterinary knowledge to support the strategy of the wholesaler business (National Veterinary Services) and the practice management business (VetIT). Also work with the team to support the wider vision of Patterson Companies.
  10. Participate in staff training and development
  11. Deliver high levels of customer service through telephone and face to face interactions
  12. Maintain knowledge of LIMS system and IT processes
  13. Ensure safe working practices adopted and followed

 

 

 

 

 

 

Personal attributes:Qualifications, experience, skills, knowledge and competencies required to fulfil the role

 

Qualifications –

Veterinary Degree and MRCVS

UK, European or Amercican Board qualifications

Post graduate qualifications in Veterinary Clinical Pathology FRCpath or equivalent

Demonstrable pathology experience

 

 

Office skills –

Keyboard, excel, word, telephone, fax and email.

Good organisational skills,
