We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Junior PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team. This role is ideal for someone beginning their career in database administration, with a keen interest in PostgreSQL databases. As a Junior DBA, you will assistin managing, maintaining, and optimizingour PostgreSQL databases under the guidance of senior staff, ensuring their performance, availability, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Maintenance and Support:
- Assistin routine database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and performance monitoring.
- Help in implementing database upgrades, patches, and fixes under supervision.
- Database Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor database performance and assistin basic tuning under the guidance of senior DBAs.
- Help in identifyingand resolving database performance issues.
- Security and Compliance Support:
- Assistin implementing database security measures, such as access controls.
- Support compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
- Collaboration and Learning:
- Work closely with senior DBAs and development teams to learn best practices in database design and management.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for system improvement.
- Documentation:
- Assistin maintainingdocumentation for database procedures and configurations.
- Help in documenting database issues and resolutions.
- Technical Support:
- Provide basic technical support related to databases to internal teams.
- Escalate complex issues to senior DBAs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Basic understanding of database management systems, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Familiaritywith SQL and an interest in learning about database optimization.
- Basic knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) is a plus.
- Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
- Strong communicationskills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Eagerness to grow and take on new challenges in a supportive environment.
