Position Summary:
The Site Environmental Leader’s primary objective is to support execution of Bakelite’s Environmental programs with an emphasis in local and federal programs at assigned locations. This position supports the day-to-day compliance needs and ensures a culture of compliance through direction and oversight of existing programs. The position provides coaching and technical expertise to sites and site leadership teams to meet the permit compliance obligations. The ideal candidate understands manufacturing regulatory and tactical needs to ensure compliance of various level of permitted facilities.
Will serve as the environmental compliance subject matter expert (SME) for manufacturing at assigned location.
Essential Functions:
- Research and assess facility operations for regulatory applicability for Environmental Risks (Waste, Waster water, Storm water, Air, etc.) for assigned locations.
- Apply federal and local environmental regulations to Bakelite Operations at assigned location.
- Prepare or coordinate the completion of environmental compliance reports and documents for manufacturing and industrial facilities.
- Manages the system for data collection for environmental reporting requirements and executes processes to streamline the work data collection system.
- Maintain and update the process of data collection to determine emission factors and calculations.
- Support compliance assurance programs for all applicable air regulations.
- Support the Sustainability program for assigned locations.
- Streamline reporting function for various local and federal reports.
- Supports the H&S function as necessary.
- Supports the PSM process for assigned locations by acting as the Environmental SME.
- Leads investigations for environmental incidents and events as classified by Bakelite EHS Incident investigation policy.
- Will pull data from various sources/sites and integrate into spreadsheets to streamline work product output.
- Ability to understand data from one facility’s process and translate into another.
- Experience with managing environmental consultant activities to execute environmental compliance obligations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science/Management, Engineering or technically related field required.
- 5-10 years’ experience as an environmental professional in a manufacturing/industrial environment or supporting an industrial environment.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of environmental regulations.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment and self-directed at times.
- Ability to be a resourceful, self-starter.
- Proven ability to influence without direct authority.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with a Title V permit.

Travel:
10-20% domestic travel for site visits and meetings.
