Summary

Bakelite is seeking a Reliability Engineer in Louisville, KY to lead the Louisville plant reliability program, ensure a robust Mechanical Integrity /Quality Assurance program is maintained per OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) 1910.119 regulation and champion the use of Reliability Centered Maintenance. This position is also responsible for tracking standard maintenance metrics to gauge the current state and provide the basis for continuous improvement along with managing reliability projects from idea development through completion.

 

Essential Functions

  • Establishes and executes the sites reliability plan and annual MI compliance schedule and budget.
  • PSM leadership for the PSM elements of MI/QA/MOC and steward of the site PSI information.
  • Maximizes plant uptime and drive continuous improvement in asset reliability.
  • Drives Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) to ensure the optimal maintenance practices are applied to each critical manufacturing asset based on operating context.
  • Monitors maintenance activities for repetitive maintenance items and maintain a list of top reliability issues. 
  • Conducts mechanical reliability audits and reviews.
  • Serves as Reliability/Maintenance leader on site capital projects to ensure maintenance and reliability issues are addressed and all new assets are started up with the required PMs established.
  • Identifies and implements ideas to improve performance, increase unit availability, and reduce costs. Sets measurable annual goals and objectives in all key functional areas.
  • Manage the Site PM/PdM program through SAP looking at continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Tracks and publishes standardized maintenance performance metrics on a routine basis.
  • Troubleshoots equipment performance issues, evaluate equipment repair versus replacement and recommend corrective actions. 
  • Ensures planned maintenance (PM) inspections are completed and documented in accordance with established procedures and schedules and initiate appropriate corrective action as necessary to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.
  • Works closely with the division MI team on systems, practices and improvements for the site.
  • Maintain site equipment records in PSM audit ready condition.
  • Leads and /or facilitates root cause failure analysis (RCFA) reviews and/or reliability centered maintenance (RCM) exercises.
  • Provides technical support on equipment challenges with the maintenance department.
  • Maintains an equipment replacement forecast and monitors end of service life trends.
  • Leads efforts to optimize Plant spare parts to achieve optimal reliability at the lowest cost.
  • Works with operations in development of procedures for critical/major equipment including training as appropriate.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or any related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Maintenance Systems experience.
  • Experience with Pipe / Equipment Codes, P&ID diagrams for specification and equipment improvement. 
  • Predictive / Preventative Reliability experience.
  • Chemical manufacturing preferred.

 

Special Needs & Skills

  • Interpretation of reliability data into actions.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Familiarity with SAP Maintenance Module, SAP Purchasing, and Investment Proposal development.
