Summary
Bakelite is seeking a Maintenance Scheduler in Conway, NC responsible for detailed planning of all mechanical and IE maintenance work that will be executed by the plant’s maintenance workforce. This role is also responsible for coordinating maintenance and construction activities ensuring that maintenance and project work is carried out in a safe, environmentally compliant, effective, and efficient way. The associate is the primary liaison between operations, maintenance, and engineering groups. They maintain appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results or work done. The associate will work with the Maintenance and Engineering Leader to meet budget requirements and will serve in a team coaching capacity.
Essential Functions
- Support and promotes EHS procedures and policies in the maintenance planning process and execution.
- Leads plant safety culture initiatives through maintenance planning activities.
- Prepares job plans to maximize resource utilization by identifying parts, materials, tools, external resources, rentals, and any documentation required in the planning process to execute work orders.
- Owns Maintenance schedule to ensure work is being completed in accordance with PSM regulations
- Owns development of standardization of maintenance repair processes and procedures.
- Reviews and provides technical feedback to the Maintenance Leadership team on repair activities and job requirements.
- Writes, develops, and maintains work packages for maintenance turn arounds and scheduled outages.
- Optimizes maintenance resources, tracks PM compliance, schedule adherence, wrench time and unplanned schedule break-ins.
- Collaborates with Maintenance Manager to plan day-to-day manpower and resources.
- Manages Maintenance department direct reports and vendors in the absence of the Maintenance Leader.
- Maintenance Leader in coordinating contractors and crafts.
- Directs stockroom critical spare part procurement and levels for maintenance planning level activities.
- Acts as a maintenance department system matter expert for maintenance technical resource needs.
- Responsible for determining and managing maintenance procurement vendors.
- Utilizes and manages the Maintenance CMMS system to procure parts and resources.
- Manage critical part procurement spending to align with maintenance budget.
- Plan and schedule maintenance turnaround activities & facilitate turnaround meetings.
- Prepare weekly & daily work schedules by working closely with the Production Leader, Maintenance Leader, Shift team leaders and contractors. Facilitate daily and weekly scheduling meetings with all key stakeholders.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong technical understanding and problem-solving skills.
- Planning capacity for coordination of multidisciplinary work.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to work well and communicate in a timely manner with staff at all company levels.
- Strong technical IT knowledge with CMMS system experience, preferably SAP.
- Demonstrated ability to read standard blueprints, machine, and process drawings (P&ID, PFD, and Isometrics).
- Technical ability to adapt to meet ever-changing demands or priorities.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering with 3 years of experience in maintenance and operations OR a High School diploma/equivalent or trade school with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance environment required OR 5 years Military experience involving electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
- Equivalent work experience in a PSM covered facility will be considered.
