Summary
Bakelite is hiring a PF1/2 Reactor Operator. This associate that will be responsible for the safe operation of multiple batch process novolac reactors using Delta V, and Wonderware process distributive control systems (DCS) and related SAP functions.
Essential Functions
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Process equipment operation.
- Operates multiple novolac reactors.
- Direct Outside Operator of next steps in process.
- Raw material adds and sampling during batch production.
- Trouble shoot process parameters to determine upset process conditions
Miscellaneous:
- Performs inventory and cycle counting activities.
- Performs simple mechanical troubleshooting.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Performs weekly safety inspections.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years chemical plant experience.
- Must be willing and qualified to wear a respirator.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be HazMat certified or willing and able to become certified.
- Must have the ability to accept responsibility, perform duties under stress, adapt to situations requiring preciseness, and adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.
- Must be able to adapt to situations involving the interpretation of facts, feelings, or ideas; be able to influence people in the opinions, attitudes, or judgments; and be able to generalize, evaluate, make decisions, and perform repetitive work.
- Physical requirements: Sitting, carrying, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, climbing (ladders of various heights), and frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.

- Team player with strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good verbal and written communications.
- Basic computer skills and aptitude to improve.
- Aptitude to understand technical concepts.
- Possess the ability to understand the meaning of words and their ideas, as well as instructions and their underlying principles. Perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately and possess good eye-hand coordination.
