Scientist: The Impact You’ll Have On The Organization and World
- You’ll join a team of innovators shaping a sustainable future. You’ll assist with innovation in adhesive formulation by developing and synthesizing advanced adhesive formulations that improve bond strength and durability in plywood and particle board, enhancing product performance and longevity in applications.
- You’ll collaborate across the organization. You’ll work closely with manufacturing teams and customers to tailor adhesive properties to specific application needs, resulting in increased customer satisfaction.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like? Here are your primary responsibilities:
- Supports the identification, development, and deployment of new technologies to advance innovation strategies and provide critical expertise in formaldehyde-based chemistry and applications.
- Supports the translate business strategy to technical needs, engage internally and externally to identify and assess new ideas, and develop fundamental understanding necessary to bring new chemistry from idea to commercial success.
- Supports Technical Service function through problem solving, sampling, and testing.
- Supports operations to ensure quality manufacture of resin products.
What is Needed to be Successful in this Role (Required Skills/Abilities):
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS or MS in the field of Chemistry, Polymer or Wood Science.
- Knowledge and experience with chemical hygiene, laboratory safety and environmental compliance.
- Knowledge of general testing protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Synthesis and formulation experience in thermoset resins, specifically phenol-, urea-, melamine- formaldehyde polymers.
- Experience applying thermosetting resins to relevant wood products processes (e.g. particleboard / MDF, OSB, PLY).
Travel:
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally 10-20% of the time.
