What Does a Typical Day Look Like? Here are your primary responsibilities:

  • Leading a two-person crew in efficiently managing railcar movements, including operating a yard tractor, switching, and spotting railcars throughout the facility.
  • Coordinating inbound and outbound railcar releasing through the railroad website.
  • Completing daily track and railcar inspections to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Backing up all areas of shipping and receiving including processing orders to be shipped utilizing SAP.
  • Reporting functions including daily railcar inventory, month end railcar movement reports as well as writing and updating SOPs. 

What is Needed to be Successful in this Role (Required Skills/Abilities):

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years rail switching experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be willing and qualified to wear a respirator.
  • Familiar with FRA regulations
  • Must be HazMat certified or willing and able to become certified.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform daily tasks with minimal direct supervision.
  • Physical requirements: Sitting, carrying, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing, climbing (ladders of various heights), frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Collaborative team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills with a strong willingness and aptitude to learn and enhance technical expertise.
  • Quick to grasp and apply complex technical concepts.
