Ontology & Data Architect

Overview

Altrata is looking for an experienced OWL2 Ontologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of ontology development and semantic web technologies, with a focus on using OWL2 for knowledge representation and reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain ontologies using OWL2 to support various projects and domains.
• Design and enhance ontologies to meet changing customer needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and document data models using ontological principles.
• Conduct ontology mapping and integration to facilitate data interoperability and integration across systems and datasets.
• Apply ontology best practices to improve data quality and accessibility.
• Implement and manage ontology-based data integration and interoperability solutions.
• Conduct quality assurance and validation of ontologies.
• Provide training and support to team members across the Altrata organisation on ontology development and usage.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in ontology engineering and semantic web technologies.

Required Experience and Skills

Must have -

• Master’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field.
• Extensive experience with OWL2, RDF, and SPARQL.
• Proficiency with ontology development tools (e.g., Protégé, TopBraid Composer).
• Strong understanding of knowledge representation and reasoning.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Like to have -

• Experience with domain-specific ontologies.  
• Familiarity with other semantic web standards (e.g., SKOS, Dublin Core).
• Experience in software development and integration, including Graph Databases such as Neo4j, and AI/ML using ontological frameworks
• Experience with Cloud based data warehouses such as Databricks or Snowflake
