Business Development Associate, Asset Management Solutions

We are seeking a Business Development Associate to join Institutional Investor’s North America Asset Management Division to help expedite the growth of the business. The primary aim of this role is to open the doors with new clients across our Asset Management Solutions, Institutional and Wealth Management businesses so possessing a “dig and hunter instinct” is critical.
Understanding the asset management industry and the key drivers for success across all functions of the firm is essential – strategy, finance, operations, technology, human capital, legal/compliance, marketing, and product development.
This role will be crucial in driving future growth in II’s most strategic businesses: AMI, AII, III, Private Markets product suite and beyond.
About AMI: The Asset Management Institute’s membership groups bring together C-suite executives at asset management firms in private forums to discuss strategic issues and current business challenges. AMI’s members includes the following executive roles: CEO, Chief Investment Officer, CFO, COO, Chief Talent Officer/CHRO, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Product Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and General Counsel.
About Distribution: The Alternative Investor Institute, Institutional Investor Institute and the Private Markets product suite provide asset managers with premier access to the world’s most sophisticated allocators. These product suites are designed to elevate asset managers’ fundraising efforts across all asset classes and strategies.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- 3+ years of sales support experience with a strong record of working in a team structure that is designed to achieve and maintain double-digit growth over time.
- Experience in asset management industry is a plus but not a requirement (this includes asset management consulting).
- Ability to work with a sales team who engages top level asset management executives with a highly consultative sales approach.
- Ability to learn and work in a sales team who designs and customizes II’s products based on client’s needs.
- Enthusiastic and fearless - willing to take rejection in stride and continue to look for creative ways to re-penetrate the target organization.
- Entrepreneurial business spirit with the ability to grow into a highly consultative sales and client-service approach.
- Team player, with collaborative attitude focused on achieving the best results for the firm.
- Excellent client communications skills, including in-person, video, telephone and email.
- Ability to create, build and manage robust opportunities pipelines in Salesforce as well as the ability to learn how to conduct effective opportunity staging and forecasting in Salesforce.
- Willingness to travel.
- Proficiency in utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Teams and Docusign.
- Project management skills – well-organized with the ability to multi-task and pivot quickly from one task to another regularly.
- Analytical acumen with the ability to work with Salesforce and Pardot. PowerBi experience is a strong plus.
Additional Responsibilities
- Research and build robust opportunity pipelines for the Asset Management Division
- Create and execute all prospect mailings.
- Follow-up in a timely fashion with all business leads to confirm as many calls/meetings as possible
- Educate prospects about II’s product offering globally - willingness to learn and commit to product training with the various product channel heads – as well as other global divisions of II to understand the niche membership offerings and drive cross-sale globally.
- Independently prepare, manage, distribute and close all new business contracts
- Strong client servicing skills: Provide client feedback to the team, to ensure our product positioning remains optimal for client needs.
- Be agile and a driver of innovation and change to ensure the best possible outcomes for the client.

The base salary range for this role is from $70,000.00 USD - $78,000.00 USD (salary to commensurate with experience). In addition to the base salary, the total compensation for this role includes a bonus administered at the sole discretion of the Company.
