Digital Designer (HTML, Web, Email, & Applications)
Purpose of the Job
We need a creative Digital Designer to build microsites, HTML emails, web pages, and digital applications for major brands, combining strong HTML/CSS skills with responsive design expertise to deliver engaging digital experiences; this global role requires collaboration with regional teams, working independently while aligning with the Head of Brand Creative and Senior Designers, and preferably includes experience interacting with marketing directors and managers.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Design & UI/UX
- Design and develop HTML microsites, landing pages, and digital applications.
- Create visually appealing and user-friendly digital assets that align with brand guidelines.
- Work closely with Marketing, the Head of Brand Creative, and the GSS Senior Designer to effectively execute digital campaigns.
HTML Email Design & Development
- Design and build responsive, mobile-friendly HTML email templates for marketing [internal and external comms]and transactional/promotional emails.
- Ensure cross-browser and email client compatibility(Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail, etc.).
- Optimize email performance with A/B testing, accessibility best practices, and clean code.
Web Development & Front-End Execution
- Develop interactive digital assets, microsites, and campaign pages with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Implement responsive layouts, animations, and UI enhancements.
- Optimize assets for fast-loading, SEO-friendly performance.
Testing, Troubleshooting & Optimization
- Conduct QA testing across multiple browsers, devices, and screen sizes.
- Debug and resolve issues in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Continuously improve the design-to-development workflow.
Client Liaison
- Working closely with the Head of Brand Creative, the Global SE team, and the Marketing Director/managers to understand project requirements, timelines, and objectives. Ensure client feedback is communicated clearly to the creative team and incorporated into the project deliverables.
Quality Control
- Ensure that all creative output adheres to brand guidelines, project specifications, and industry best practices. Implement quality control processes to maintain high standards across all deliverables.
Feedback and Collaboration:
- Provide feedback and creative direction and support for junior designers to ensure brand compliance, effectiveness overall work quality. Provide a feedback framework for them to grow and develop.
- Daily collaboration with the creative and presentation team, along with responsibility for training and developing their skill set and aiding in their path to more video/moving image-focused work.
Brand Adherence:
- Maintain brand consistency throughout all our pipeline + marketing projects
Knowledge, Skills + Experience
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with internal clients/teams, and consistently strive to exceed their expectations.
- Develop and continue a good understanding of client brands.
- Manage client expectations and build a reputation for video, motion graphics, and animation.
- Challenge creative briefs and timings where necessary to make sure work is delivered on time and to the brief.
- Attend and be punctual to all relevant meetings with internal clients and colleagues.
- Maintain composure under pressure.
- Take full accountability for your work to ensure that deadlines are met and implementation is to a high standard
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- Experience designing and coding HTML emails using frameworks like MJML or Foundation for Emails.
- Familiarity with WordPress, Webflow, or other CMS platforms(a plus).
- Knowledge of responsive design, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Basic understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or Sketch for UI/UX design.
- Experience with CSS animations, SVGs, and interactive elements.
- A strong eye for layout, typography, and brand consistency.
- Ability to translate wireframes and design mockups into functional web pages.
- Understanding of UX principles and mobile-first design.
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or GSAP for animations).
- Knowledge of marketing automation platforms (HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce).
- Basic understanding of APIs and headless CMS integrations.
- Familiarity with AI-powered design & development tools (e.g., Figma AI, ChatGPT, Mid journey for ideation).
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical teams.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for creating high-quality digital experiences
