Purpose of the Job

This is a temporary role working alongside and supporting our LATAM Tax Manager, and will be primarily responsible for the indirect tax aspects of implementing a tax engine across our LATAM region. The role requires strong indirect tax knowledge and experience in the region, including dealing with the tax aspects of imports and exports, to confidently advise on the expected tax position for a wide range of different transactions. HH Global mainly sells goods to its clients and so a strong knowledge of indirect taxes on the cross-border movement of goods is required.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for dealing with daily queries from colleagues, ensuring compliance with local VAT and any other indirect tax regulations while optimizing processes and mitigating risks. You will act as a strategic partner, providing guidance on tax implications related to business operations and supporting cross-border transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the tax engine project team, with colleagues from finance systems, business systems, finance and the global tax team, to prepare business requirements documents, plan and undertake testing, review and advise on tax results, and oversee the go-live process
  • Work with local advisors where additional tax knowledge is needed to support each country’s implementation
  • Act as the primary point of contact for queries raised within the business as the tax engine is rolled out, supporting these colleagues to ensure awareness and understanding of indirect tax compliance
  • Respond to daily queries from colleagues for business operations, transactions and supply chain activities, providing strategic advice on indirect tax implications
  • Monitor indirect tax legislative changes in LATAM countries, assess their impact on the business and help implement necessary changes
  • Support SAP system improvements related to tax codes, reporting, and compliance

Knowledge, Skills + Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, or Tax law.
  • Advanced English required.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in LATAM indirect taxes and applying this in a commercial environment;
  • Expert on indirect tax rules across the LATAM region, and with a particular requirement for strong experience and knowledge in the movement of goods;
  • Experience with accounting systems and the interaction with other systems;
  • Experience with implementing a tax engine or tax determination system;
  • Strong communication skills – both internally and externally in order to listen to and understand potentially complex indirect tax issues and explain those to non-tax colleagues;
  • Experience in dealing with and resolving queries;
  • Strong organisational/time management;
  • Eye for detail;
  • A track record of operating proactively in their roles.
