Environmental, Health and Safety Leader: The Impact You’ll Have On The Organization and World

  • You’ll help drive our EHS commitments. You ensure regulatory compliance and minimize environmental risks by assessing facility operations, managing environmental reporting, and streamlining data collection for accurate emission calculations.
  • You’ll keep us in compliance. You apply federal and local regulations, supporting air and sustainability programs, and acting as the Environmental SME for PSM processes at assigned locations.
  • You’ll enhance our organizational safety. You’ll strengthen our safety culture through leadership in training, employee engagement, and incident investigations, while maintaining the electronic data system for corrective actions.
  • You’ll lead hazard management, industrial hygiene, and PPE programs, coordinating audits and inspections to ensure site compliance with OSHA, PSM, and company standards.
  • You’ll engage in big picture planning. You’ll support safety and risk reduction for large projects and emergency response planning, working closely with site and corporate teams to uphold health, safety, and security requirements.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like? Here are your primary responsibilities:

  • Research and assess facility operations for regulatory applicability, focusing on environmental risks (waste, wastewater, stormwater, air, etc.) for assigned locations.
  • Apply federal and local environmental regulations to Bakelite operations at assigned locations, ensuring compliance.
  • Prepare or coordinate the completion of environmental compliance reports and manage environmental consultant activities to meet compliance obligations.
  • Manage and enhance systems for environmental data collection and streamline reporting for local and federal requirements.
  • Support compliance programs for air regulations and sustainability initiatives at assigned locations, as well as lead investigations for environmental incidents.
  • Own and manage the compliance and training elements of PSM (Process Safety Management), including PHAs, MOC, and employee engagement to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Facilitate incident investigations, maintain the electronic data system (GenSuite), and enhance critical hazard management programs, ensuring robust change management processes are in place.

What is Needed to be Successful in this Role (Required Skills/Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of plant engineering or similar experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and influence without direct authority.
  • Exhibit sound decision-making and includes appropriate team members in the process; leverage experience and data to resolve issues thoughtfully, even in challenging situations.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively, respond well to questions, and interact respectfully and directly with others, including government contacts as needed.
  • Support team decisions, holds elf accountable for assigned work, and resolve conflicts with honest, constructive communication.
  • Promote a safety-focused culture, adapt behavior based on feedback, and consistently achieve goals with urgency and alignment to Core Values.
  • Experience with Title V permit and industry experience in chemical or paper sectors will put you ahead.
