Human Factors Engineer Intern

A Day in the Life

Mozarc Medical’s User Experience group supports all projects across the company and aims to align the areas of the projects that face the customer (design, labeling, packaging) in a single group.

As a Human Factors Engineer Intern, you will contribute to usability activities with mentorship from Senior Human Factors Engineers. You will work in close collaboration with your colleagues to meet program objectives, using your disciplinary knowledge and passion for safety and usability to inform key design decisions. You will be part of a team that represents the customer and reviews and contributes to project work from a customer perspective.

 

This HFE role will increase our capabilities of meeting our project and regulatory needs by applying human factors practice throughout a product life cycle. This individual contributor will work closely with a more senior human factors engineer on assigned projects focused on dialysis technologies. This intern may interact with global  and cross functional team members, including the rest of the User Experience team as well as systems engineering, software engineering, clinical, marketing, etc. The majority of this team member’s time will be spent working on new or legacy technology, from design to implementation to release in the field, while adhering to policies and using specialized knowledge and skills.

Minimum Qualifications (or Must Have)

  • Master’s degree in biomedical engineering, human-computer interactions, or equivalent discipline
  • Excellent knowledge of English language

 

Responsibilities

  • Applies human centered principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human-machine systems and products in various product life stages (concept, design, documentation, testing)
  • Support Human Factors activities on new or legacy technologies
  • Support product submission deliverables
  • Apply knowledge of FDA, ISO, AAMI and other relevant regulations and standards

 

Nice to Have

  • Comprehensive understanding of human behaviors
  • Knowledge of human factors principles and understanding of how they fit into engineering design and analysis
  • Knowledge of usability for medical devices or another regulated industry.
  • Ability to empathize with the customer and ensure their needs are considered with product design
  • Experience with relevant design tools (Figma, Illustrator)
  • Good communication skills, ability to build relationships across various functional groups and geographies.
