JOB SUMMARY
The Analytical R&D Technician I will report to the Analytical Research and Development Manager and will be responsible for key ongoing support of laboratory operations, including glassware cleaning, tracking and maintenance of inventory for laboratory samples, consumables, and disposal of laboratory solvent waste materials. This is a vital role that enables the lab to work efficiently and offers development opportunities such as learning calibration techniques.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
- Manage inventories of lab samples, consumables, and waste
- Clean R&D laboratory glassware and equipment using manual and automatic techniques.
- Empty laboratory solvent waste.
- Prepare simple laboratory solutions following chemical recipes supplied by the analysts.
- Assist with calibrations and calibration schedules; follow proper documentation guidelines
- Track and maintain consumable inventory; order supplies and work with vendors to resolve any delays or discrepancies
- Adhere to OSHA lab safety guidelines at all times
- Work in a cooperative manner with managers, supervisors, coworkers, customers and the public.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or above
- Some interest and knowledge of science is a plus.
- Good computer skills
- Ability to understand and follow procedures; including safety procedures.
- Good interpersonal skills are required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Stand, walk, push, pull, twist, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
- Occasionally move items or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally required to climb ladders and/or steps to reach equipment.
- Requires reading precision measuring equipment, machine dials, gages, and thermometers; must be able to observe fine details utilizing a microscope.
- Must have a sense of smell to detect odors of unacceptable compounds and/or mixtures.
- Must have steady hands and good physical coordination in order to handle delicate laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- The employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) during certain phases of the operation, such as high noise areas from machinery, exposure to a variety of chemicals, or exposure to dust, mists, and fumes.
- Any employee whose position requires exposure to these conditions receives training in Hazardous Communication Standards and the use of mandatory personnel protective equipment. The employee is required to wear such approved personal protective equipment whenever thus exposed.
- Engineering controls are in place to minimize or eliminate exposure to these conditions wherever practical. Adare Pharmaceuticals, Inc. complies with all applicable OSHA, and EPA, standards for environmental safety and health.
