What You Will Do
1. I-9 Verification:
- Facilitate the accurate completion of Form I-9 for all new hires, ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
- Verify and authenticate employee documentation to establish their eligibility to work in the United States.
- Auditing paper I-9s’ that have been uploaded to Equifax, which are missing information to clear the audit.
- Clear backlog of missing I-9s’; which involves contacting current team members to obtain new I-9s if:
- An I-9 was never completed
- A reverification is needed and overdue
- An I-9 was in process but failed verification and a TNC is required, etc.
2. Training and Education:
- Conduct training sessions for HR staff and other relevant personnel on proper I-9 completion procedures.
- Stay informed about changes in immigration laws and regulations and disseminate relevant information to the organization.
3. Record Keeping:
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all I-9 forms and supporting documentation.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance, making corrections as necessary.
4. Communication:
- Collaborate with HR, hiring managers, and other stakeholders to resolve any issues related to I-9 compliance.
- Serve as a point of contact for government agencies during audits or investigations.
5. Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the I-9 verification process.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in I-9 administration.
What You Will Need
- Extensive experience in HR, compliance, or a related field, with specific exposure to I-9 verification processes required.
- Strong knowledge of federal immigration laws and regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Experience with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and electronic I-9 solutions is a plus.
Salary range is between $55,000 - $70,000 annually based on experience and location.
